I keep hearing, thinking, and talking about future work environments where workers are more independent and self-directed, and can work pretty much anywhere, so when I read something like
this at News.com:

Cell phones are giving employers new ways to check up on employees in the field--and raising fresh workplace privacy concerns as a result.
I get very confused: are we actually moving in another direction, where employers use new surveillance technologies for virtual micromanagement?
