« Relic: Hohocon Talk | Main | Barlow: Magnanimous Defeat » Traditional Non-TraditionalMark Frauenfelder posted at boingboing about our friend Steve Silberman, a gay married man, whose written a personal account of his own marriage. Steve is one of the finest writers in the known universe, equipped to articulate eloquently the reality of "same sex marriage," which is really about two people in love making a commitment to each other. The young voters of the near future already know that love does not discriminate. The laws against marriage passed in eleven states on this past Election Day will not stand and will be recognized for what they are -- ugly, fearful steps backward on the long climb toward democracy and respect for everyone. To couples like me and Keith, I say, keep getting married, proudly and publicly, even without a license, in the face of any cynical attempt to exploit misunderstanding of your lives for short-term political gain. A sane, ethical, compassionate world has to start somewhere. jon posted this at 6:38 PM |
