The Alliance to Rescue Civilization wants to create a kind of lunar Noah's Ark where DNA for all species will be stored, as well as "a compendium of all human knowledge." I think they're missing something: if "civilization" can't prevent the destruction of human life through war or indifference, a project intent on sustaining civilization doesn't seem all that promising.
