« Coworkin' for a living | Main | Live Art Blogging from SXSW Interactive 2008 » April 7, 2008What should we be thinking about? On the one hand, I see a lot of buzz in the U.S. blogosphere and geek world over Apple's new primacy as #1 US music retailer. On the other hand, I know that we're in deep shit if I pay attention to the non-US, non-geek press. Consider the piece in Germany's Der Spiegel that says Germany and other industrialized nations are desperately trying to brace themselves against the threat of a collapse of the global financial system. The crisis has now taken its toll on the German economy, where the weak dollar is putting jobs in jeopardy and the credit crunch is paralyzing many businesses. It would be interesting to see bloggers focus en masse on the state of the economy and work at sorting it out... all that distributed wisdom-of-crowds brainpower might actually be helpful if you focused it somewhere useful. Might we start thinking how to make the necessary transformation to a global economy focused on sustainability, not consumption? jon posted this at 8:48 AM |
